Environmental statement

When designing the trips, I am aware that only sustainable tourism can secure the future of travel and that it can only take place holistically today.

For me it goes without saying that all trips I offer and their services are ecologically justifiable and characterized by social responsibility. With every trip we try to protect the environmental conditions and the original socio-cultural situation in Andalusia and, if possible, even to promote it.

As far as our accommodation is concerned, the "location trips" (accommodation during the entire stay only in one place) contribute significantly to the conservation of resources, since the apartments are used longer and everything does not have to be cleaned and washed (bed linen and towels) after one night.

Furthermore, the owners are resident in the village, ie they benefit directly from tourism in their region, which is an important source of income, especially for the rural population.  There are no bookings in hotel chains.

It is the same with the restaurants: they are typical regional small restaurants that prefer local cuisine and whose owners live on site. The choice of food also helps to preserve the environment. For example, no endangered animals (e.g. tuna) are offered for meals that are included in the services.

Of course, there are no plastic dishes or other disposable items at picnics.

Through my personal commitment to environmental protection and the local environmental group, I know the problems on site and can address them specifically and thus contribute to a better understanding of the place.

On the trip "Art and the Sound of the Sea", which has more cultural content, I always try to give the best of manners, customs and differences in mentality. After some areas in Greece, Andalusia is still the most traditional region in all of Europe. It is also my responsibility to address this socio-cultural structure. With this in mind, I hope that the participants will not only achieve their geographical goal, but also their spiritual goal of learning to understand strangers better.

Local transport is kept to a minimum, and on the two trips to Castellar, the car is not even needed. The classic "rattle off trip", in which one drives hours from one sight to the next, does not take place here. You limit yourself to a particularly beautiful region and explore it intensively.

Arrivals are still a weak point as they are primarily made by plane. But I would like to draw your attention to the alternative of coming by train. With this environmentally friendly variant, you can consider the journey as part of the trip and make a stopover, or several, in an interesting city. Night trains run so that you can get to your destination well rested. As early as 2009, the British travel journalist Nicky Gardner wrote a manifesto for "Slow Travel", in which she advocates not only traveling by train, but also traveling by slow train. In this sense, it is a type of travel that stimulates detailed perception because it leaves behind  deep impressions of what it is on the go  to see there. Every flight is the same, every train journey is different. The train also offers the opportunity to read and write, sleep and eat.

Interrail isn't just for young people, it's just cheaper for them. Two travel agencies I know specialize in international train journeys:

-gleisnost.de (Freiburg), sales point licensed by RENFE (Spanish train company), tickets 50% cheaper

-bahnfüchse.de (Berlin)

Other websites that specialize in rail travel:

-www.nachtzug-24.de (DB)

-thetrainline.com

-bit.ly/2me2mqg

The possibility of an individual extension after or before the joint week also improves the eco-balance of flying.
